Barefoot Brewery was nestled 2 miles from the thriving market town of Morpeth just off the A1 at the Whitehouse Farm Centre which is 15 miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The brewery is sited in a unique setting surrounded by picturesque country side and complemented with an array of crafts people such as sculptors, candle makers, carpenters ,blacksmiths, stonemasons, even a dog hydrotherapy swimming pool and a soon to be, holistic health and aromatherapy centre

Formerly Font Valley Brewery, which you may have heard of, or even sampled the beers, the principal partner and head brewer Michael Hegarty has moved brewing operations to the White House Farm Centre into a virtually purpose built unit with a larger and improved brewing area. This has enabled them to scale up the barrelage thus allowing more availability of the beers produced, giving more scope to formulate new brews on a smaller scale. The Brewery now has a 10 barrel capacity with conditioning and storage for 20 barrels.

Font Valley provided an excellent platform to enable the market to be explored and Font Valley beers will still be produced under the Barefoot name. With Michael’s S.B. winning the bronze award at the 2005 Newcastle Beer Festival, the Barefoot Brewery is now in an excellent position to increase its range of real ales to capture everyone’s palate and imagination.

Michael’s new partner David Wilson has a background in Banking; he is handling the financial side of things as well as rapidly learning the brewing processes from Michael.

They hope to be setting up a small bottling line in the near future and will initially be selling their wares direct from the brewery. They are also looking to offer brewery tours with disabled access availability.

…….And the name? Ever felt you were wading through treacle for a long long time? Eventually getting through it, and just wanting to kick off your shoes and run Barefoot!
