Just received initial details for this new brewery - so here they are.

We are constructing a two and a half barrel pilot plant on a farm a few miles north west of morpeth at a place called Stanton, the building was an old stable which was full to the gunnels with junk so progress has been painfully slow plus full time employment small children etc etc but we are getting there and we aim to be brewing by at least April in time for the Newcastle beer festival (fingers crossed) Find attached a photograph taken on the first of Nov 2001

An Update on the state of play.

Here is a brief update of our progress so far, All of our brewing equipment is in position, we have conducted five test runs of around one barrel brew length just to see what our kit can do as we have constructed it ourselves. The first runs were not bad but until we had our vessels properly insulated we could not work out our efficiencies or really predict how the brews were to turn out, this was achieved with our last two runs, mash efficiency 71% not bad for home made, on our last run two weeks ago, we aimed for a 4.2%ABV beer and we ended up with 4.12%. Our main stumbling block like every other business is cash ,we have applied for a DEFRA farm diversification grant as we need money for mainly casks, some building repairs and various other bits and pieces, our business plan has been submitted but they still require a few more details, the grant board sits again in November.
