Brewery founded in 1995 and beers launched at the 19th Newcastle Beer Festival where their Workie Ticket immediately won the Beer of the Festival award. Currently they have a fifteen barrel plant but are expecting to expand fairly soon due to heavy demand for their beers.

Their Workie ticket won Champion Beer of Britain at the 1997 Great British Beer Festival, August 1997 at Olympia. This created huge demand for their beers and the brothers are looking for ways to meet it. New premises are now in use and brewing continues. Following a test 250 barrel brew at Batemans there are no further plans to brew outside the North East.
