The Brewery was founded in 1995 by Garry & Matt Fawson and the beers launched at the 19th Newcastle Beer Festival where Workie Ticket immediately won the Beer of the Festival award.

Workie Ticket then won Champion Beer of Britain at the Great British Beer Festival, August 1997 at Olympia. This created huge demand for their beers and new premises were soon found.

Following continued growth, a further move to much larger premises was completed in November 2005. A new steam boiler and improvements to the existing plant mean that brewing twice a day is now possible on the twenty barrel plant.
